How do I find specific metrics?
- Click "Explore Metrics" on the query-building preview page
- Multi-select subjects using the "Filter by Subject" dropdown
- Use the "Filter" button to find metrics by name
What information is available for each metric?
- Click the "columns" button to view additional metric details
- The default "Metric" column contains most information for full-text search
- Sort columns alphabetically or numerically by clicking column headers
How do I select metrics for my report?
- Check the box next to desired metrics
- Clear default selections with the "Clear Metrics" button
- Selected metrics will be accessible after finalizing your preview report
Can I preview data before using a token?
- Click "Free Preview" to visualize selected metrics on a choropleth map
- Missing data appears in gray during the preview and will be clearly labeled as missing in the preview and final reports
The Census Bureau does not publish data for geographies when the sample size is too small to respect individual privacy. If this is the case, try selecting a larger geography or a different metric.
What if I want to change metrics after running a report?
- You can change the displayed metric on the map even after running your report, so long as you chose to include that metric before initially previewing your report.
- All selected metrics remain accessible in the finalized preview report regardless of which specific metric you choose to display on the map at any given time
